Research on soil and groundwater contamination at the production sites of confectionery factories in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, Ulyanovsk, Yekaterinburg and at 12 sites of confectionery factories in Ukraine (Mukachevo, Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk and Lugansk) has been carried out on behalf of Orkla Foods company. As part of the research, the following works were performed:

• Selection and approval of drilling and sampling points;
• Preparatory drilling through hard surfaces;
• Borehole drilling and sampling;
• Laboratory tests of soil and water samples;
• Radiological studies based on available documents and on-site surveys.

Based on the results of the work carried out, reports were prepared containing an assessment of the level of contamination of the sites and recommendations in connection with the potential liability of the client.
