Environmental assessment of equipment, materials and infrastructure facilities

An environmental assessment of equipment, construction materials and infrastructure was carried out on behalf of Ford Motor Company under a contract with Arcadis in accordance with the client’s procedural requirements to rank environmental risks during the closure of production facilities, including possible dismantling and removal of equipment and structures. The work was carried out at three sites in the Leningrad Region and the Republic of Tatarstan and included:

  • Inspection of all registered equipment with registration of the presence and assessment of the amount of hazardous materials, handling of which may cause harm to the environment (filling fluids, lubricants, etc.);
  • Survey of accessible elements of underground utilities (manholes and hatches) with registration of the residual content of hazardous materials;
  • Sampling of building structures, coatings, gaskets and other materials and determining the presence of pollutants and fibers in them (metals, oil, PCBs, asbestos) with the involvement of subcontractors for diamond drilling of hard coatings and laboratory research;
  • Preparation of registration statements based on survey results.

The work was carried out during the progressive covid-19 pandemic under sanitary general requirements and additional conditions of the client for placement, movement and location at facilities in order to limit the spread of infection.
